Fáilte Ireland
This campaign for Fáilte Ireland is an excellent example of how our team of journalists add value as they bring their expertise in terms of Editorial products to meet client briefs.
Ireland 2016 is the Irish Government’s programme to mark the centenary of the rebellion of Easter 1916. While the programme spans the entire year, there was a particular focus on the events of Easter Week. The clients were seeking interesting activations that would stand out during a period of intense media focus on the Rising. Content needed to support the aim of the overall programme which was to remember the events of 1916 and to honour both those who participated and who were affected.
One of our very successful Editorial products is the Liveblog. We use Liveblogs regularly across all our publications to cover ongoing news stories and live events. Over the course of 6 days during Easter week, we mirrored the events of 1916 with our “Liveblog” from the GPO and from the other sites of the Rising, giving detailed updates in real time to tell the story of the rebellion as it developed and concluded. It was a hugely successful series, achieving over 250,000 article views and 1150 Facebook shares. Readers responded strongly to history being brought to life in this innovative and accessible fashion.
TheJournal.ie‘s Voices section comprises columns and opinion pieces from a huge variety of contributors. Over a period of 5 days, the Voices section was dedicated to the men, women and children whose first-hand experiences contributed to fascinating and moving testimony chronicling the events of 1916. The articles, each offering unique insights into some of the lesser known personal stories coming out of the Rising, achieved 106,369 views and were widely shared across social media, indicating that the campaign made its mark and resonated with readers.
